Idea Management Consulting Services Limited, promotes the concept that in order to be effective in the services provided we operate on two distinct levels. On the cognitive level we assist clients in identifying the problem and jointly look for a number of different solutions. At the same time and at another level, we establish a relationship with the client in order to maximise the work carried out.
As a result, our consulting model is based in the following principles.
• CONTRACTING
It is our philosophy that prior to any project we gain full comprehension of the project and ensure that that there is clear understanding of the project deliverables. For this purpose, it is our policy to exchange enough information for both parties to be able to make the best decision in the interest of the client. Our ultimate objective is to ensure that there is operational partnership in the venture, enough access to people and information, commitment from all stakeholders as well as an opportunity to be innovative.
• FROM DIAGNOSIS TO DISCOVERY
Our team is trained to handle data and information adequately and in doing so we spend as much time as required with the client in order to obtain the right information. As expected this first phase is imperative in order to ascertain that there is enough internal commitment. In achieving our objective we adopt an inclusive philosophy whereby we try to include different people so as to ensure that organisational internal politics are accurately dealt with.
• DATA GATHERING AND ANALSYSIS
In our project endevour we try to work as close to the client as possible. As trained management consultants our team works towards:
• ensuring clear understanding of the organisational and managerial climates;
• identifying any resistance to change;
• interacting with people;
• analysing data in manageable parts and use objectivity.
• HOLISTIC OVERVIEW
Although at times we may only be directly involved in one issue, in our consulting process we try to understand the whole picture. Our approach is that we involve the whole client system much more than in redefining the problem, naming a desired future, outlining alternative actions and deciding on how to proceed. The strength of looking at each problem from a holistic point of view is that every recommendation then becomes more objective, real and manageable. This approach generally helps management in becoming part of the change process and as a result every recommendation becomes more acceptable.
• IMPLEMENTATION
In theory, implementation could be seen as the apex of the consultancy process. However knowing what to do and finding the right way how to do it are two different worlds. Our team is professionally trained to give equal importance to both. We understand that in carrying out the necessary change process we need to understand the organisational dynamics, internal politics and pertinent issues. In doing so we also adopt the traditional change process which includes:
• Articulating a vision;
• Setting standards for what is expected;
• Putting rewards on the new behaviour;
• Training in new skills;
• Measuring the change.
